Son Of Frankenstein Filmbook - Conclusion

Sorry I got so emotional in Part One, I get so defensive at times! Seeing this movie on TV in the late sixties, at the age of eight, I vividly remember the opening scene with Son & Wife on the train heading for the town named Frankenstein. It's a dark and stormy night, and as the train is pulling into the station, the conductor calls out the name of the town, and through the window of their train car I saw a dark figure and assumed it to be the Monster himself! It was only a tree, but I've always wondered if that was supposed to be an intentional scare or not...

Son Of Frankenstein Filmbook, Part One

When I was flipping through Famous Monsters #52 during my Dark Shadows series of posts I ran across this great filmbook for Son Of Frankenstein, a film that is often on my mind and one which I plan to watch this season(I don't watch them every year- I don't want to burn out on them. Why I'm worried about this after having seen Teenagers From Outer Space and Monster Zero more times than I can count is silly, there's just something about Universal Horror and Halloween... ). One thing that really bugs me about this movie is the way it's always compared unfavorably to the first two James Whale-directed Frankenstein films. I'm not going to go on a long tirade about how ridiculous I think this practice is, I'm just going to show you these amazing stills so you can remember the film and wonder why anyone wouldn't think this film is incredibly entertaining and features some outstanding perfomances and certainly stands proud next to the first two, I don't care who directed it and whether Karloff is wearing a sheepskin vest or not. I love this movie and I don't love anything unless it's worthy of it. RARRRRRRRRRR!!!...

The Return Of Monster Parade #4

On Monday, November 10th, 2008 I posted the cover of my first copy of Monster Parade #4, a magazine that just mysteriously disappeared from my collection. I can't for the life of me determine what happened to it. Anyway, I said that if I were ever to find it or find another copy, I would post some of the contents. Well, I lucked out and found another copy for eight bucks. On the 100 Most Valuable Magazines list, it is ranked #51 and a NM copy is worth(?)over a thousand dollars. I plan on posting a good chunk of it, not necessarily because it is a superlative magazine, but because it is rare...
