Charlie McCarthy - The Haunted Hideout

Howdy Doody? Charlie McCarthy! You can thank Karswell of The Horrors Of It All for providing me with the scans for this and blame me for posting it(tee-hee!). For true vent-figure terror, head on over to THOIA today as we jointly offer homage to the evil Anti-Pinocchio...

Santa Claus Funnies 1949

That looks like a leer on Santa's face. Watch out, kids!...

Issues of and stories from Santa Claus Funnies swerved wildly from amusing to awful. Throughout December i'll try to bring you the best of what i have of this most Merry of comic traditions...

Yes Virginia, Death May Be Your Santa Claus

Forrest J Ackerman R.I.P(ieces).
(sorry about the pun, but Forry would appreciate...)
Forry believed(and so do i), that when you're dead, you're dead. That reality is hard to face for some, so an emotional investment in fictional Superheroes and Monsters fosters a sustaining state of mind. Monsters and Horror speak of an afterlife, though a hellish one, for those that deserve punishment. Heroes replace Gods, swooping down to aid us in our imagination's darkest adventures. We wish we could fly too, but there is no Heaven to fly to. So fight where you are and while you can, like there's no tomorrow, because there may not be. Forry had fun. So should we all, as much as possible. Even in the worst of times and situations, people have a creative spirit that belies the idea that life is pointless. It's up to the individual to decide what's worth what. All this is easy to say when the time of your death is still a surprise waiting to spring out at you. But there, i said it.

Gyaos Who's Coming To Dinner?

Don't have time for a full post but wanted to show ya'll something, so here's a Gyaos wallpaper for computers everywhere, big or small. I had a Japanese penpal in the 1970's and we'd exchange stuff and this was a Gyaos model kit he sent me. Unfortunately I no longer have the model itself. I still have the instructions...

Melvin Monster #6 - The Thing, Little Lulu #166 - The Case of the Stolen Stocking

I'm definitely stuck with my Thing...

If Tubby's TV Set Disguise isn't a great idea for a Halloween costume, i don't know what is...
